A Decade and a Half in the EU – Hopes and Reality will be the title of a presentation to be delivered at the invitation of the EU Section of the Hungarian Economic Association by former Prime Minister Péter Medgyessy, signer of the accession treaty in 2004 and former President of the HEA on the 15th anniversary of the accession, to take place on Thursday, 9 May 2019 from 3 p.m. in Budapest, in the Library of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (Budapest V. kerület, Arany János u. 1., Floor 2, Auditorium). The event will be chaired by Szabolcs Fazakas, former minister of industry, commerce and tourism, former member of the European Court of Auditors, former MEP, Chief Advisor to the EU Commissioner for Financial Planning, and President of the European Union Section of HEA.
The 15th anniversary will provide an opportunity for reflection and assessment of the extent to which our EU membership contributed to Hungary’s convergence to the developed Western European countries, and the areas where the achievements have fallen short of our expectations.
Participation in the event will be free, subject to prior registration. Anyone interested in the event should send an email via the address firstname.lastname@example.org by 6 May 2019. Registrations will be accepted subject to capacity of the venue.
